linuX-gamers.net was founded with the idea of creating a clan for people who play their favorite games under GNU/Linux. This idea was first mentioned at linuxforen.de [1] and after a few days of discussion the first core team for this project was formed.

Subsequently a homepage and discussion boards were set up and the project was ready to go public. We chose linux-clan.org [2] as our first domain. It was mainly German, as was the IRC channel #linux-clan (quakenet), where we met for real time discussions.

The community grew and it attracted an increasing number of people from different countries. So we decided to move the project to its current domain linuX-gamers.net with English as its main language. Also two international IRC channels #linux-gamers.net (quakenet; freenode) were introduced.

We are a versatile project with the intention to help others whereever it concerns playing on Linux. We grow daily, thanks to their spare time many people invest and the effort, they voluntarily put into the project.

Furthermore we support other projects like cvscedega [3], LIFLG [4] (Loki Installers For Linux Gamers) and lina [5].

At our homepage you can find news related to gaming on Linux, HOWTOs, a discussion forum with several boards, a section for professional players and many other things.

We've got servers running for different games, which are kindly hosted by several members of our community. That way the Linux gamers may meet in ONE place and easily have a match with like minded people.
